Deeside Fire Station remodelling well underway
PostedDeeside Fire Station is back on track with its remodelling project and is set for
completion by the beginning of Autumn 2015.
MPH Construction has taken over the contract and work on site is well underway.
Dawn Docx, Deputy Chief Fire Officer at North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, said,
"Deeside Fire Station may currently resemble a building site, but over the coming months it will be transformed into a modern, fully operational station along with a new training facility which will benefit firefighters, meeting rooms for the use of community groups and partner agencies, and improved facilities for the Welsh Ambulance Service.
"The fire station will remain operational throughout the refurbishment work with
arrangements in place to ensure that fire appliances are able to leave the site
in the event of an emergency at all times."
Building works suffered a short pause in activity late last year whilst MPH Construction was appointed in place of the previous contractors working on the project.
"We were able to minimise the delay on the project, and staff are scheduled to
return to working in the newly remodelled fire station in the Autumn," said the Deputy Chief Fire Officer
"I'd like to take this opportunity to thank staff and the public for their patience and understanding whilst we drive forward this exciting project.
"We have an excellent relationship with the construction site manager with daily
discussions of what work is planned for the day so that we can work around each other's requirements. During the next few weeks MPH will be working to make all the structural changes and getting the new roof fitted to ensure the building is weather tight.
"Wehave a lot of work ahead, but I'm confident that the remodelling will progress
to plan, with development on site coming along quickly and everyone's
commitment to the project for the benefit of the community and staff is clear."
